What we collect
When you sign in we store your name and email from Google (or the address you use in development). The profile you save — school, major, year, coursework, skills, projects, and resume text — lives on your account so drafts can talk about you without you retyping it.
Site usage
We record page views with a random cookie so we can see how many people visit and which pages they open. The cookie is not your name or email and is not used for advertising. We also count how many people create an account with Google.
How your resume is used
An uploaded resume is parsed so we can fill the profile, and the extracted text can be sent with your profile to OpenAI when you generate or refine an email. We do not sell resumes or profiles. We do not use them for advertising. OpenAI’s API terms say API content is not used to train their models.
Researcher data
Faculty and paper records come from open scholarly sources (OpenAlex and Semantic Scholar) plus pages we fetch when gathering a homepage or lab roster. Search results are cached so later students do not pay the same lookup twice.
Payments
Season-pass checkout and billing history are handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription ids so we can tell whether drafting is unlocked. We do not see your full card number.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not send emails on your behalf. Drafts stay in your account until you copy or open them in your own mail app.
